Oshirakura, Niigata Prefecture, Japan
organized by Art Front Gallery, Tokyo
Site specific video installation with imagery and sound of water, interwievs with
local farmers, and real drinks of local water.
The project emphasizes water as an essential element in human life. Water is a
connecting means between such fundamental people's needs as growing food and religious
treatments.
Local agriculture has been always wired strongly with a local religion. Especially
in Japan's festivals we still can read this relationship.
Nobody else then the local people, but recently often even them, does not know
their meannings anymore. But still they carry on the wisdom of co-existence with
the nature.
